What is Balayage?

Balayage is a French word that means “sweeping”, but it is used to describe a hair coloring technique where color is painted onto the hair.  No foils are needed.

Here’s how it works.  The color is hand painted on the hair in a “sweeping” motion.  Starting from the base of the head, where the color is lightly applied, the colorist works downward to the tip of the hair, where the color is applied more heavily.  The result is lighter colored ends that mimic the always sought after sun-kissed highlighted look.

But Balayage is not just for blondes.  Brunettes and redheads can benefit from this technique too by adding different dimensions of color throughout the hair which allows the color to look more natural.

Is your hair starting to go gray?  Don’t fret.  This technique could be used to target those few pesky gray hairs without having to apply color all over your head.

Since the color is painted on the hair by hand, a custom application of color is created for each client.
