Manicures & Pedicures

Sure you can do it yourself, we’ll even give you tips on how to do that (see below), but nothing compares to getting a manicure or pedicure from a professional.

Classic.  You can’t go wrong with a classic manicure and pedicure.  A classic manicure and pedicure consists of the same color being used on all nails.  The color on your finger-nails could be the same color that you pick for your toes or it could be a different color.  Choosing a color is easy …

• For everyday, any color works.  Pick a color to suit your style or career.

•  For an interview, looking professional is the key.  So choose simple shades like pale pinks, nudes, or soft whites.  You want your nails to look clean and neat.

•  For an evening out, coordinate the nail polish color with the color of your outfit

• For a formal event, red’s the way to go.  Red is classy, elegant, and sophisticated.

French.  A French manicure and pedicure are traditionally done using a bright white nail polish to define the tip of the nail … but any color can be used.  Have fun with it!

Pop-Of-Color.  Change it up!  If you’ve heard about the color-block clothing trend, then you know all about using a burst of color to dazzle the eye and create an interesting look.  So it’s no surprise that this fashion craze has made its way into manicures (and pedicures).  Pick a finger – any finger will do, but most pick their ring finger – and paint an unexpected pop-of-color on it.  The pop-of-color could be any color you want.  It could complement the other color you picked for the rest of your nails or it could contrast with it.  Mix pastels with metallics, neon colors with muted shades, shimmers with solids … whatever mood strikes you.

No Polish.  Manicures and Pedicures are more than just nail polish.  They are relaxing experiences that you can sit back and enjoy while our professionals work their magic.  The treatments include a hand/foot soak, hand/foot massage, cut, file, and shaping of your nails and more.  So if colorful nails are not for you, then opt for no polish or clear polish.  Your hands and feet will thank you.

Do It Yourself

How to get the perfect manicure at home …

Step 1:  Start by smoothing out your nails by using a fine-grade nail buffer.  It is important that you use the lightest possible touch, gently skimming the top of the nail, and spend no more than a second or two softly buffing each nail.  You do not want to thin or damage your nails; you just want to smooth them out a bit.

Step 2:  If you have cuticle oil, rub it over your nails and let it seep in for a minute or two, then gently … very gently … push back your cuticle with a wood manicure stick.  Tip: If you do not have cuticle oil, then soak your nails in water until the cuticle is soft.

Step 3:  To help the polish stick, make sure your nails are clean with no oil or greasy residue.  If you used cuticle oil, then you will need to remove the oil from your nails before applying the polish.  Tip: An easy way to clean your nails is with nail polish remover.  Just swipe each nail to remove any oil.

Step 4:  Shape your nails using a nail file.  Tip: To prevent nails from breaking or splitting, run the file across your nail in one direction … not back and forth.

Step 5:  Now it’s time to polish your nails.  The first layer should be a base-coat.  Tip: To fill in ridges, choose a ridge filler as your base-coat.  Let dry for at least two to three minutes before moving on to the next coat.

Step 6:  Choose a color and apply a thin (not thick) coat over your nails.  Let dry for at least two to three minutes before moving on to the next coat.  Tip: For best results, apply two thin coats of your chosen nail polish color.

Step 7:  Finish your manicure by applying a thin (not thick) layer of a clear top-coat.
